The Redcliffs Butchery has been at its current location for 65 years and was around a long time before that. The current owner(Brian Jennings) has operated the butchery for 18 years.

    

The butchery is known for it's famous bacon which is dry cured using a secret curing recipe and then wood smoked resulting in a superb flavour and firm texture.

    

The bacon really is famous, being judged by a panel of 32 bacon critics and expert chefs in the official New Zealand and Pork Industry board bacon competition as the best bacon in New Zealand. Not bad for a small suburban butchershop.

 

Ham is another specialty(that was judged 2nd in New Zealand by the way) which the butchery is well known for.
